Processing from below

Machining from below opens up new possibilities in automated manufacturing. With the help of a recess in the workpiece carrier and a special deflection module, components can be reliably machined from below. The workpiece carrier is held in place at the side and precisely centered for maximum precision.

Application examples

  • Screw fastening from below: Screw fastening processes can be carried out directly from the underside without having to turn the workpiece.
  • Laser marking from below: Components can be marked efficiently and in a space-saving manner from the underside.
  • Optical inspections from below: Camera systems enable quality control on undersides that are difficult to access.
  • Pressing in small components: Bolts, pins, or bushings that need to be positioned from below.

Advantages of underside machining

  • No need to turn components on the workpiece carrier.
  • Significant time savings in assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Machining on both sides possible in a single pass.
  • Greater process reliability and less wear thanks to precise centering.

Integration into the Sigma transfer system ensures that processing from below is flexible and can be implemented in the ST-700-ST-715 series. This makes production processes not only more efficient, but also more economical.
